HUE COOKING CLASS AT THUY BIEU ECO-VILLAGE
We have two departure time options in a day for you to choose from – morning (7:30) or afternoon (13:30). Let’s take a look at the Hue Cooking Tour itinerary below.
Visit Thien Mu Pagoda By Dragon Boat
At 7:30/13:30, Hue Cyclos (or private car) and your tour guide pick you up at your place in Hue City. Then your Hue cooking class tour starts.
They take you to Toa Kham Wharf for your dragon boat trip. After being welcomed to the boat, you enjoy your trip on the dreamy Perfume River while the boat heads to Thien Mu Pagoda. On the boat, you may get wonderful views of Truong Tien Bridge and some other sites in Hue.
The boat ride lasts for around 45 minutes. Then you reach Thien Mu Pagoda, which is well-known for being the Hue symbol and the most ancient pagoda in this land.
Exploring this place with our knowledgeable tour guide, you will learn more about its history, architecture, Feng Shui, and some interesting stories behind this sacred pagoda.
After the visit to Thien Mu Pagoda Hue, you come back to the boat and continue the sightseeing trip around the Perfume River. On both sides of the river, you may catch sight of pomelo gardens and the Hue Temple of Literature. This scenery may be the best source for your fantastic photos of Hue.
The final destination of your boat trip is the Hue Ecolodge Wharf, an eco-resort by the Perfume River. Here, you turn to the next part of the Hue cooking tour at Thuy Bieu Village.
Attend The Cooking Class At Thuy Bieu Eco-Village
First, you need fresh ingredients for your dishes. At 9:00 AM or 3:00 PM, with local staff, you cycle to the Thuy Bieu local market and learn how to buy things like Vietnamese.
In the market, you can pick clean and fresh ingredients grown by the locals for your food. This is a perfect chance to discover and experience the Vietnamese daily lifestyle, customs, and culture.
To enhance your local experience, we will arrange visits to local families with traditional crafts during the market trip. Particularly:
- Incense craftsman’s home: Hue is famous as a religious city with which incense is significantly associated. You can see this offering in all worship activities in Hue. Thus, discovering how to make it, its functions, and its meanings right at a local craftsman’s house will bring you great insight.
- Village painter: Next, you will come to a local painter’s home. The painter will welcome you, tell you about the artworks, sketches, and more. Also, you can relish the peaceful ambiance around the house.
- Vang ma (votive paper) craftsman’s home: Lastly, you will explore Vang ma (votive paper), an offering item for the deceased. Basically, Vang ma looks like miniatures of normal things like umbrellas, clothes, accessories, etc. Why so? What are they used for? Let’s discover on your visit.
After the shopping, you return to the restaurant at Hue Ecolodge and kick off your cooking. Don’t worry about anything because the chef and tour guide will help you throughout the whole process.
Some dishes you may make in your cooking course:
- Figs mixed with shrimp and meat (figs picked from trees in the garden)
- Vietnamese traditional spring rolls
- Hue crispy rice pancakes (a specialty of the countryside)
Enjoy The Meal At Pomelo Garden
Eventually, after all your cooking effort, you are treated to a big meal that includes your dishes! Besides your self-made food, you can enjoy four more dishes prepared by the restaurant’s cooks:
- Stir-fried vegetables with meat and shrimp
- Vegetable soup
- Steamed rice
- Seasonal fruit dessert (a product of the village)
After you enjoy your meal, we offer you a free foot massage session with local herbs. While enjoying this healthy care, you can relish the Perfume River scenery. Finally, at around 2:30 PM or 6:30 PM, our private car will pick you up at Hue Ecolodge and take you back to your place in Hue.
