Terraced fields are most beautiful in May-June when the fields are in the flooding season (rice seeding season). Plus, September-October, when the sticky rice is ripe and shiny golden, spreads across the hillsides (Winter-Spring harvest season).
In winter, the Mu Cang Chai is also beautiful, like a painting. The end of December is the season of forest peach blossoms.
Local Homestays: Staying with local families in traditional homestays is a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture of North Vietnam and experience the warmth and hospitality of the people. You can also rent their traditional costume to take unique and beautiful photo albums.
You will see the Mong ethnic minority in Mu Cang Chai has 4 groups, including Mong Đơ (White Mong), Mong Den (Black Mong), Mong Lình (Mong Hoa), and Mong Si (Red Mong). They reside on mountain slopes from 800 to 1,700m high with rich traditional and unique cultural features that always attract many researchers and travelers.
